Description: @LLN Mike SAN BERNARDINO NATIONAL FOREST, CALIFORNIA - BIG BEAR (LLN) - Fire crews are working to contain a 37 acre brush fire burning roughly 5 miles from the town of Big Bear on Saturday afternoon, April 30, 2022. The fire was reported around 1:26pm along Smarts Ranch Road, east of Highway 18 and north of Big Bear, in an area known as Cactus Flats. Initial reports indicate the fire may have been sparked by an off-road vehicle however, fire investigators at the scene have not confirmed that, they have only stated, the fire remains under investigation. According to Lisa Cox, Public Information Officer with the US Forest Service, the fire is 50% contained with no structures threatened and no injuries have been reported.
